"When I survey the wondrous cross"

117 - In Meditation on the Cross!
Dalari meter
"When I survey the wondrous cross"
Kartaa : Isaac Watts,
1674 - 1748
: M. V. Macwan
1 Whenever I hold this cross in meditation!
Where I remember the glorious King who died!
Then whatever great gain appears to be mine!
Ah! I count it all as worthless; let it be lost!
2 Let it never be, Lord! that except in Christ's death!
I should hold pride; whatever else there may be!
All the things of the world, for which I have great attachment!
I count as vain, O Lord! and offer them to this blood-stream!
3 Ah! From Christ's hands, feet, and also from His head!
See! what a stream flows, mingled with sorrow and love!
Ah! Was such loving sorrow ever seen together?
Or was a priceless crown of thorns ever seen?
4 If ever the empire of this world were mine!
Ah! yet that would be too small a gift for this love!
Such wondrous and divine this love appears!
That asks for my life and soul, my all!
